To me pop culture is anything entertainment wise that intrigues you. That sparks your self interest and gains your attention for an extended amount of time, pop culture has always been prevalent in the United States and around the world. Every nation has its own celebrities and key figures. Yet in todays world the culture is more accessible than ever with people becoming internet celebrities and the latest news and trends being accessible with the click of a button. This can be dangerous to the adolescents of todays pop culture frenzied world. Making them feel insecure or irregular because they do not look the "pop culture" part or because they cannot find a place to sit in at the "pop culture" table. Musicians, actors, athletes, talk show host, reality TV stars. These are the faces of pop culture. Why? because on a national level they consistently attract the attention of the masses. The numbers are staggering. Super Bowl XLIX in which the New England Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks played on February 1st, 2015 had a showing of 114.4 million viewers in the United States. That statistic doesn't include the 70,000 plus people who actually attended the game. Super Bowl Sunday in a America is essentially and American holiday for some. Much like the NBA finals, the Grammy's, the BET awards, and on a more world wide level which takes place every four years the Olympics. In essence pop culture is whatever we give our attention as a people, as a nation we create pop culture. We feed this phenomenon.
