Pop Culture's Effect on the World

Pop culture is an amazing culture.  It influences different behaviors and links people to ways of life they may have never experienced on their own.  Music and fashion have the 2 biggest influences in pop culture because they set all the trends.  In the 2000s, it was all about wearing clothes that were oversized and baggy, while nowadays its about wearing slim/tight clothing.  In the 80s and 90s, there were a lot of "Gangster rappers" in hip hop.  It was also easier to sell records back then because the only way to buy CD's was to go to the actual store and purchase it.  Today its more diverse and not so gangster.  Only the biggest artists sell a lot of records because of social media and different ways to illegally download music which is also a result of pop culture.  Music is no longer about the meaningful messages but more so of the catchiness of the song.  I feel there are more one hit wonders in this Era than there were back in the 80s & 90s due to the lack of a message in the music. Social media makes it easier for pop culture to spread which could be a good and bad thing. Good because when something that goes viral is positive it may attain global attention.  Bad because if something was to go viral that was viewed as negative it as well would attain global attention which could leave a negative impact on society.  Nothing in life is all good and nothing in life is all bad.  In my opinion, there is more good influences that Pop Culture leaves on the world rather than bad.
